Alan Marcus is a film practitioner, cultural historian and Professor of Film and Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen.  His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Illinois, and he received an MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge.  In addition to his books and publications on film, photography and the built environment, Alan Marcus has made 15 research films since 2006 which have been the subject of numerous invited talks with screenings.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the Royal Society for Arts, and the Cambridge Philosophical Society.  He is a Life Member of Clare Hall, Cambridge and a Member of the Director's Guild of America.
